history essay: cause of world war i
REFLECTION
Process: This essay was done during a Unit Test in history class. I was prompted to write about what the cause of World War 1 was. I answered the question in my essay through the knowledge I had from what I learned and information from the textbook. It was not really a timed-writing but we had to finish it before the class ended making it a partial timed-writing. I tried to do a introductory paragraph followed by 3 PPE's concluding with a conclusion paragraph. I was able to successfully structure my essay this way.
Product: I was pretty satisfied with the writing. I was able to successfully explain why the U.S. became involved in World War 1 and whose fault it was. I liked that I was able to incorporate several historical facts to back my thesis up but some of the facts were not good enough evidence to prove my point. Also, I had a few incomplete thoughts in my essay. However, i was able to prove my point in the end and I achieved this through prior knowledge from class.
Growth: This essay made me incorporate historical facts to back up my point. Using facts from history and facts from a novel are very similar and the essay writing using in-text citations in English class really helped me to get better at the essays in History. I learned that history and books are very similar in a way and when using them as evidence for an essay, they are used the same way.
Improvement: I would like to write better by using better vocabulary and incorporating my factual evidence in a more convincing way to lead the reader to understand my point of view. Also, knowing more about a certain topic and studying would help in my writing in the future.
