Symbols in the lord of the flies
This was written as a short timed writing in class. I was supposed to explain the symbols that were used in Lord of the Flies and show how they helped the reader to understand the novel better. Also, I wrote about how these symbols showed the motive for writing the book and what each symbol represented.
REFLECTION
The process gone to write this essay was not long. This was written as a short, 20 minute timed-writing in class based on the symbols in the book, The Lord of the Flies. However, thinking of the thoughts in such a short time was difficult but because of the numerous amount of symbolism in the book, finding the symbols was quite easy. In writing this, i pretty much wrote down everything that I thought of that was relevant to the topic.
Deciphering the symbols in the novel was fun because it helped me to better understand the book and why the book had been made. With prior group discussions and the help of Mrs. Boyd, I was able to find the symbols fairly easily and quickly and put it into writing. The writing itself was very perfunctory. I remember that on that day, I was very tired and I just wrote what came into my head. I wasn't able to elaborate very well however i feel that I was able to successfully get the main point across.
Writing in a shortened time pushed my abilities as I had to write with good style and get to the point with only 20 minutes. I learned that I constantly practicing timed-writings will help my writing greatly improve as this assignment had done for me.
I want to improve on my timed-writing skills and be able to process thoughts and get it down on paper faster. I feel that what I write is not sufficient enough to fulfill the task and I need to get to the point better. Also suing higher vocabulary would help my writing to be sophisticated. Using these skills would help my writing to be stronger.
